Landscapes Near and Far | Group Exhibition
16 August - 06 September 2023

It is our absolute privilege to host the works of five highly-esteemed artists in our upcoming exhibition, Landscapes Near and Far.

Collectively, the works of Greg Hansell, Ann Cape, Johanna Hildebrandt, Judy Lane and Chris Gentle capture the renowned beauty of the Australian landscape: its earthy palette, expansive skies, beautifully rugged mountain ranges, robust flora and the gentle hum of wildlife by the creek.

The artists have been widely celebrated in an extensive number of exhibitions, both in Australia and overseas.

Chris Gentle, born in 1939 in England, is a highly esteemed painter, lecturer and writer. From 1977 to 1986, he was Founding Director of the Ivan Dougherty Gallery.

During the past four decades, Gentle has travelled widely in Australia, observing and analysing the landscape, its beauty and its fragility. His interest has been in the process of nature at work, decay and renewal, and the evidence of time passing. More recently, he has turned to developing the formal aspects of abstraction, which underpin his imagery, with particular attention to colour and texture.

His work is held in many private and public collections, including the Australian National Gallery, the National Portrait Gallery of Australia, Queensland Art Gallery, Commonwealth Bank, the University of New South Wales and the University of Wollongong.
